Family Portraits 2011

We had our most successful Christmas pictures ever.
There were no tears or drama. Even the photographer said it was the best session she'd had in awhile.

Michael and Elizabeth posing in front of the tree.

The out takes of Andrew standing were hilarious. They finally got the chair out to contain him.

Merry Christmas!

Elizabeth was very into posing this year. In the past we've had tears tolling down her face and today she kept smiling even after the camera was off.

Big smiles!

Field Trip to California Pizza Kitchen

Our MOMS Club had a fun tour. The kids got to make their own pizza.
Andrew ate most of the toppings. Elizabeth piled everything she liked on hers. Then helped Andrew by putting her least favorites on his.

Watching the pizzas go into the wood fired oven. Elizabeth told the chef not to let her pizza catch on fire.

We toured the kitchen while waiting for our pizza.
Here Elizabeth is trying to keep Andrew from running into the walk in refrigerator.

Showing off their final product. All of the children were well behaved. But by this time they were ready to hit the play place and burn off some steam.

Fall trip to Kalahari Water park

Michael had time off school for conferences and election day so we took full advantage. We spent three days at the largest indoor water park.

There was so much to do there! Can you see James with the younger two on the third story of this play structure?

There was a large area for toddlers.

It took us nearly ten minutes to walk from our room to the water park. We quickly realized that throwing the kids on the bellhop's cart was much faster.

By far, the craziest slide was the Tazmanian Twister. After speeding down a pitch black slide it dumps you in this bowl where you spin around.

After spinning you finally drop through the center hole into a tank of water.
It was Michael's favorite.

The African theme of the hotel was Andrew's favorite. He loves identifying animals. Here he is going for a ride on a water buffalo.

James spinning around the toilet bowl.

Michael was barely tall enough to do all of the rides. Elizabeth had some that were more her speed. At first she was upset, but when she got a closer look at the crazy, scary rides she was okay with not going.

We all enjoyed the lazy river. It was so long and had beautiful scenic walls. Andrew would float with me and point out all the animals: crocodile, hippo, elephant, gorilla, leopard and baboon. There was also an antelope which was new for him. He would say anlelope ooooooor mommy deer.

Michael and I raced on this raft ride.
There were so many rides we didn't even go on all of them the first day. My favorite was a zip coaster that was part water slide part roller coaster. James loved a raft ride that was so steep it almost felt like a free fall. Michael and James are already planning the return trip.

Cheers from Kalahari!
